ABS
ABS is durable and post-processes well but wants stable temps. Use an enclosure and good ventilation; great for parts that need drilling/tapping.
Typical print: Nozzle 235–255 °C, Bed 95–110 °C, Chamber 30–45 °C, 40–60 mm/s
Drying: 70–75 °C for 4–6h if needed.
Adhesion: PEI, ABS slurry, or glue on glass. Brim/raft helps large parts.
Notes: Styrene fumes—ventilation recommended.
Pros
- Strong and tough
- Acetone smoothing
- Good heat resistance
Cons
- Warping & cracking
- Fumes
- Needs enclosure
Enclosure Matters
Keep drafts out; warm chamber prevents layer split. Lower fan (0–15%).
Post-Processing
Acetone vapor smoothing, drilling/tapping, and painting after light sanding and primer.
